A positive first birth
Sandy says:

The wonderful women at Birthtalk spoke of joy, support, beauty, naturalness, choices and hard work too of course. These thoughts were present for me during the
birth of my gorgeous daughter. I am certain I was less fearful and more accepting of the enormity of the contractions...after all, each one was bringing my baby closer. It was
the best experience I have ever had. My partner and I are closer for having been through it
and he has spoken of
it with awe many times since.

Mythbusting nights
Sick of hearing horror stories about birth?
Scared stiff about something (or everything!) in birth?
Want to know the truth about birth? (NOT the truth according to movies and TV sitcoms!)
Bring your biggest fears (or maybe your mother's) and let us explore and explode these myths that linger in our culture.
> Do caesareans need to be a bad experience?
> Is it inevitable that I will tear during birth?
> Is there such a thing as false labour?
> What if my maternal instinct doesn't kick in?
> What if my birth is as bad as my sister's?
This evening is led by a midwife and childbirth educator, and promises to get you thinking about birth in an empowering, positive light.
We will discuss myths, fears and misinformation surrounding:
big babies, induction, due dates, waters breaking, vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC), directed pushing, dilation...
and any other common areas of confusion you'd like to bring along! |
